Five reasons why the Living Safely HELP ID Card™ is important:
Almost anyone can benefit from having and using a HELP ID Booklet! After all, the Booklet stores vital health and other information all in one convenient place. This said, traditionally the following groups of people have benefited greatly from having the Living Safely HELP ID:
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):
Question: Doesn't my doctor and/or the NHS already keep my computerised records for me?
Answer: Yes and no. Your own doctor has likely computerised your health records for use within the surgery but these are likely only available during opening hours of the particular surgery and certainly not on an emergency basis.
When paramedics, triage nurses, attending doctors or consultants need to know key facts about your medical history on an urgent or emergency basis, it is unlikely your medical records can be found and transferred in time to be of any use. For that, you need the Living Safely HELP ID Booklet!
Further, between delays caused by privacy legislation, low staffing levels and extended wait times at A&E, it's doubtful your records will ever be accessed remotely by even the most caring and diligent medical staff.
Question: Hasn't the government spent millions of pounds trying to do this?
Answer: Actually depending on the source one uses, the government has spent between 7 billion and 12 billion pounds putting together a very ambitious and wide-ranging plan to enable in-hospital doctors and other medical staff to see your records throughout the country. Yes, that's billions not millions! Unfortunately, by all accounts it has failed. You can read about the various problems and lost opportunities here:

Question: I'm concerned about the privacy of my personal data. How can the HELP ID Booklet help?
Answer: With a Living Safely HELP ID Booklet, you control access to your health records. You store your personal health records in the privacy and security of your own home. Family members, paramedics and A&E staff get your vital information only when you have the physical HELP ID Booklet completed and ready for action!

Question: How will paramedics and family members know I have a HELP ID Booklet in place?
Answer: We include high-visibility Safety Yellow Door Stickers to notify Paramedic/Ambulance, Fire and other Emergency Responders of your HELP ID Booklet and its location within your home. We always encourage people who have a HELP ID product to tell their families, close friends and trusted neighbours about it...just in case it's needed quickly.
